INCCA recognized at International Women's Day

In 1975 the United Nations decreed March 8th International Women’s Day.   This year, a March 2010 International Women’s Day Celebration was held at Cleveland Clinic Florida in Weston, Florida.

The celebration was co-hosted by the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Weston Branch (www.aauwwestonbranch.org) and the Women’s Professional Staff Association of Cleveland Clinic Florida (WPSA CCF). In attendence was an audience of 100 prominent members of the community including Florida Senator Nan Rich and Weston City Commissioner Mercedes Henrikksson.

Dr. Maria Lina Diaz was the recipent of a Service of Distinction Award on behalf of INCCA which included a beautiful plaque and a check for $100.

In her Keynote Address, Senator Rich congratulated Dr. Diaz and INCCA for their service in Peru screening underserved women for cervical cancer.

Doctor Diaz then gave a moving presentation highlighting the plight of the Peruvian woman and INCCA’s mission and history in the Cusco region. INCCA had a booth at the event where the documentary was shown and donations were accepted. An additional $341 dollars were accepted in donations.

INCCA  received much attention and interest from other women’s  community organizations and many pledges to assist with support in the future.
